Description: Shaking his 'master' snow globe, Father Christmas searched for a solution to the biggest pain in the butt he’d suffered from in years. The fact that Holly’s personality was completely his fault didn’t help. Everyone at the North Pole was suffering, including Holly because he’d had a few too many sherries before magicking her into existence to help with the Christmas rush. Somewhere on Earth, there had to be someone who had a Christmas wish to spend some time with a cute, pain loving, sarcastic and bolshie blonde girl, who had a significant chip on her shoulder. BRB chuckled to himself as an image of a tall, brown haired man appeared in his globe. Oh yes, Kian Thompson had been a very good boy for quite a few years now, and he deserved a reward. Whether he’d cope with the reward who would soon be on her way to him, was quite another matter.
Warning: Contains gratuitous festive references of a significantly English nature, kinky fairy action, and one frequently bewildered human Dom.
My Take: Let me start out saying I don't normally read BDSM books, and thought I'd give this one a try to see how I felt about the genre. It was all rather light-hearted, and so I can't say it read too much differently than other erotica. Holly, our heroine, is actually a Christmas Elf (er, fairy) and is part of the "adult wishes" department. Sent to fulfill a wish, Holly finds herself involved with a dominant man willing to inflict the pain she can't help but crave.
I enjoyed the magical element of the story, and it is written believably. Holly's character is a little difficult to take at times, because she's so combative, but overall this is true to her character. The character development and plot is sacrificed in favor of the sex scenes, but the characters are still developed enough to create an enjoyable story. The plot is a little predictable, but again, this doesn't detract greatly from the story.
Overall a light-hearted, sexy read if you enjoy the genre. Also a great intro to BDSM; nothing too intense and the reader learns as the heroine learns about it.
